About the artist
Joe Mascarello has been in construction for over 38 years. He grew up in construction and restaurants with his dad and family in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Joe started working in construction when he was 13, he then dove full time into all forms of carpentry at the age of 18. He worked for his Dad at J&R Construction until he was 21, when he opened his own company, Quality Contracting. Joe and his Dad always talked about getting back into the restaurant business and opened Joey's Pizza which had a great run in Keyport, New Jersey. Joe would always show his dad his jobs and projects. His Dad would say that he became so much better a carpenter than himself. A sentiment that still brings tears to Joe's eyes whenever he thinks about it.
In 2019, Joe rented a wood shop in Hoboken and has been making live edge tables, charcuterie, longboards, cutting boards and more ever since. With only word of mouth, he has sold over 60 + unique pieces so far. He sources the wood from many private owners in upstate New York or Pennsylvania including black walnut, cherry, spaulted maple, butternut, ash, ,tigerwood, and many other hardwoods. If you give me an idea, i can make your idea come to life.Select the wood , the color of epoxy, down to all the finishes , i will walk you thru the process of making your project amazing & beautiful.
Depending on customer request and size of project, each piece can take 1 week to 6 weeks.
"To this day, I love all the projects I do for my customers." Joe says , "I am grateful to my grandfather who taught my father, who passed it on to me and allowed me to then teach my daughter to create, love and respect the art of carpentry."
